Ghazal for Your Hands

Lio Fenwick

Ghazal · Love

I learned the whole world over, slow, in your hands.Every unlearnable thing went still in your hands.

The therapist asks what safety felt like, growing up.I say: a body. I say: a held thing, in your hands.

They warn you love will cost you something, in the end.I already spent it gladly — I live in your hands.

Some nights the old fear finds me anyway, uninvited.I don't fight it off alone now. I just put it in your hands.

Call it devotion, call it luck, call it the second promise —Lio keeps learning the same lesson: everything, in your hands.
