Closing Shift

Nobody tells you retail teaches you geometry —how to fold a shirt into a rectangle nobody will remember,how to stack boxes so the empty ones look full,how to smile in exactly the shape the customer needsand unfold it the second the door chimes shut behind them.I used to think this job was beneath the person I was becoming.Now I think it is just Tuesday, and Tuesday is also a shapeI am learning to fold.
