Anti-Midas

23 October 2026

Everything I loveMelts like chocolate And in the endIt all turns to shit.Life is a sexually transmitted diseaseAnd I'm sick to death of it.The telephone is a rotten eggImpregnated in my mindAnd the internet killed the video star, So be kind and please rewind. The bad times have comeAnd the good times never last. The end is very fucking nigh,But this too shall pass. With a heart of darkness And a pair of second-hand lungsSomething wicked this way comes . . .

This made me laugh and then kind of ache right after, especially that rotten egg line, so weirdly specific. I love that it keeps coming back to "this too shall pass" like it's trying to convince itself. Please keep writing like this.

Thanks, my friend! I put this together in my head while slaving away at an assembly line . . .sometimes you just got to go to your happy place, right?

Assembly line and "this too shall pass" in the same breath — makes sense now why that line does double duty, it's not just a joke you're telling the poem, it's one you're telling yourself on shift. Glad the happy place got you through it.
