Today my body forgot to remind me it was there, and I walked four blocks without doing the math first, and I noticed, the way you notice a held breath only once you've let it go,that I'd stopped bracing an hour ago and hadn't told myself to.
I don't trust it. I know better than to trust it.But I bought the coffee I actually wanted instead of the one that's easiest to carry, and I drank it standing up, outside, in no hurry, like a person who has somewhere to be and all the time to get there.
I'll pay for this tomorrow, probably. I don't care yet.Let me have the coffee. Let me have the four easy blocks.Let tomorrow come collect what it's owed tomorrow.
About the lyric poemA poem in one speaker's voice, giving a feeling, moment or thought.
Lyric poem is a broad word more than a strict form. It usually means a poem in which one speaker voices a feeling, a moment or a thought, often with a song-like quality. It can rhyme or not, at any length. There is no fixed rule.
Listen for One voice speaking close and personal, and how music shows up in the language.
